Nigerians have been urged to show love and support for people living with HIV and to remember those who have died from AIDs- related illnesses.

Honourable member representing Eti-Osa constituency 02, Gbolahan Yishawu made this appeal on Tuesday in commemoration of world AIDS Day 2020.

Recall that each year, December 1, the world commemorates World AIDS day, founded in 1988. Also, World AIDS Day was the first ever international day for global health.

The lawmaker said people living with AIDS must be well supported most especially now that the world is battling with COVID-19 pandemic.

In the same vein, Yishawu corroborated the fact that all over the world, health workers and community representatives are doing their utmost to keep HIV services going, adopting innovative ways to overcome disruptions in services caused by COVID-19.

Yishawu, who is also Chairman House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning joined the World Health Organisation (WHO) to appreciate all those working to provide HIV services, calling on people to rally for “global solidarity to maintain essential HIV services during Covid-19 and beyond.”

Yishawu therefore celebrated the resilience of people that are living with the virus and also appreciated scientists across the world that are working tirelessly for an AIDS/HIV free world.
