US Raises Concern Over Army/Shiites Clash, Calls For Investigation No ratings yet.

The United States Embassy, Nigeria had raised concerns over the clash between the Nigeria force and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria. The embassy is also calling for immediate investigations into actions that led to the killings.
The clash by the Shiite group and the Army and Police resulted to the Army killing about 50 people.
The Police had also arrested 400 Shiites and charged them to court for violence and disruption of public peace.
The US embassy in a statement released on Thursday, November 1, 2018, said urged the Nigeria government to conduct a thorough investigation on the killings. 
The statement partly reads, “The United States Embassy is concerned by the deaths resulting from clashes between Nigerian security forces and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria in areas surrounding Abuja.
“We urge Government of Nigeria authorities to conduct a thorough investigation of the events.”
The US Embassy also demanded that the Nigerian government to “take appropriate action to hold accountable those responsible for violations of Nigerian law” while also urging both sides to restrain from further actions that would disrupt peace of the country.
