The United Nations will commence its June Climate Meetings on Monday, June 16, in Bonn, Germany, as part of preparations for the COP30 UN Climate Change Conference scheduled for November in Brazil.
The 62nd session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB62) will run from June 16 to 26 at the World Conference Center Bonn, where the UN Climate Change headquarters is located.
About 5,000 participants, including government delegates and civil society representatives, are expected to attend the 11-day meetings aimed at advancing key climate issues and preparing decisions for adoption at COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
The meetings build on progress achieved at the COP29 UN Climate Change Conference held in Baku last year, focusing on driving forward critical climate action decisions.
UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell will deliver the opening speech on Monday at 10:00 CET during the opening plenary to set the agenda for the June Climate Meetings.
The UN Secretariat has distributed its latest quarterly update to all governments, covering key work completed in the first quarter of this year and providing a preview of upcoming activities.
Several major events are scheduled throughout the meetings, including the Baku to Belem Roadmap on Climate Finance event and Global Goal on Adaptation event on June 16.
Other significant sessions include the Oceans and Climate Change Dialogue on June 18, the Just Transition event on June 21, and the Santiago Network on Loss and Damage event on June 25.
The COP30 Presidency will host multiple events during the meetings, including a Mutirão event on June 18 and an Information Integrity session on June 21.
The meetings will conclude with a closing plenary on June 26, with all proceedings available via livestream on the UN Climate Change website.
Executive Secretary Stiell’s opening remarks will be distributed in all six official UN languages, including English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish.
