Journalists have been urged to evolve with the international best practices and adopt digital approaches in telling their stories either online, print or broadcast.
The advise was given during the monthly Hacks Hackers meet-up by John Eromosele, a trainer with CodeforAfrica, an organization that trains journalists on Data Journalism. The monthly Hacks Hackers meet-up trains journalists on various tools for data journalism.
During the June’s Meet-up with the theme, “Charting – Enrich your story” journalists were trained on how to make infographics with different web based applications.
Eromosele while illustrating the use of Infogram said “as a journalist, telling your story should be done in a unique way and the use of data gives credibility to your story. Either you’re a print, broadcast or multimedia journalist, you can use infographics and it helps your audience to understand you better.”
The meet-up is free for all journalists to attend and registration can be done on http://bit.ly/CodeForAfrica The training currently runs in Abuja, Benin and Lagos.
