The former first lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama in a statement released on Twitter at the late hour on Thursday via her verified Twitter handle urged Silicon Valley companies to ban Trump permanently from their platform.

This was stated following the violence that erupts at the Capitol on Wednesday during the election.

“All l know is that now is a time for true patriotism. Now is the time for those who voted for this president to see the reality of what they’ve supported — and publicly and forcefully rebuke him and the actions of that mob.

“Now is the time for Silicon Valley companies to stop enabling this monstrous behavior — and go even further than they have already by permanently banning this man from their platforms,” she said.

It was reported that Facebook and Twitter took the step on Wednesday of locking Trump’s account on their platforms after his supporters stormed the Capitol building to protest the election.

Twitter said it has locked Trump’s account for 12 hours and warned for the first time that it may suspend him permanently, while Facebook also blocked him from posting on its platform for 24 hours alongside his Instagram account.

Michelle noted that seeing the gut between the responses to Wednesday’s riot and this summer’s peaceful protests and the larger movement for racial justice is so painful. It hurts.

While further reacting to the incident, Michelle urged individuals to join hands together in putting America back together as it’s not the work of any individual politician or political party, but a collective effort of every citizen.
