The Nigeria Police Force, Military and Department of States Security Services have sealed up the venue of a National Discourse organized by the Coalition for Revolution, CORE which has been scheduled to hold this morning.
In a statement issued by Seni Ajai, Co-convener, Coalition for Revolution, CORE, he said owner of the event centre and staff were denied access to the premises as the venue was totally locked up.
“Innocent bystanders are being harassed and arrested in a Gestapo manner. This is the response of a so-called civilian government to a symposium. No wonder the country is sinking deeper into crises.
“We remain focused and determined not to let anyone take away our rights. We have paid for the venue and the program is scheduled to start by 11am”, Ajai added.
He said the event would continue at the same location at the specific time.
The event was supposed to have in attendance Prof Wole Soyinka, Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana and notable activists demanding for the immediate release of Omoyele Sowore, Dadi Yata, Jones Abiri and others who are being detained by the DSS.
