Iyanuoluwa Bolarinwa, Manager, Civic Hive, has described political parties in Nigeria as parties without clear cut ideology stressing that followers are only interested in individuals and members and not necessarily because of the goals and purposes of such parties.

Speaking during the Youth Let’s Talk Politics Conference (YLTP Conference 2020), Bolarinwa explained that the key difference between political parties in Nigeria should be ‘ideology’, goals and mission.

He however noted that the Nigerian political parties do not have any of such, stressing that, “in Nigeria, nothing separates political parties, only the individual you want to follow.”

He therafter advised the youths at the conference to know the candidates they are voting for, see themselves and their ideologies in the person before voting the person in.

He summed his discussion by advising youths to actively participate in politics, “We need the real political power so, we (youths) won’t continually talk about politics but act in politics”.

Also speaking at the YLTP Conference 2020, Founder, School Linka, Mr. Kayode Oluwaseun advised the delegates to contribute their quota in every way possible to making the country a better place.

“As youths, we have a tough choice to make; either make life better for ourselves or make it better for the generations coming and If we do not do anything now, our children will suffer and our future would be at stake”, Kayode stressed.

He concluded that youths need to find an entry point into politics to change things.

“If you don’t build authority in something, you won’t be able to change anything,” he added.
