Orodata Science and the Africa Data Hub have launched PHC Innovation Hackathon to harness data in transforming Primary Healthcare service delivery across Nigeria.
Data scientists, developers, public health experts, and innovators will employ the use of data to reveal key challenges in Nigeria’s healthcare system and create practical, data-driven solutions to best address them.
Participants will gain access to a robust PHC data repository containing detailed information on infrastructure, service delivery, welfare, inclusivity, and telecommunication maps.
Mentors from Orodata Science and Africa Data Hub will guide teams throughout the development process.
The hackathon will follow a three-stage structure starting with the submission of innovative ideas leveraging PHC data, which must be submitted not later than November 6, 2025.
The top five ideas will be shortlisted and invited to pitch at the Hybrid Hackathon Demo Day scheduled for November 8, 2025, at The COLOSSUS, Plot 4/5, Sheraton Opebi Link Road, behind Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
A total prize pool of N1,000,000 will be awarded to the top three winning teams, with the first place receiving N500,000, second place N300,000, and third place N200,000.
Interested participants can complete the hackathon registration form available online and submit it before the November 6, 2025, deadline.
Participants are required to review the rules and regulations provided on the registration page and can access datasets at https://checkmyphc.org and http://bit.ly/4ogXBQs.
The initiative provides an opportunity to build innovative, data-powered tools that can improve access to quality primary healthcare for millions of Nigerians.
