President, Women in Renewable Energy Association, Anita Nana Okuribido has urged Nigerians, especially women to protect the planet and the environment by reducing activities causing climate change.

Okuribido gave the charge at an event organized by WIRE-A to pre-commemorate the 2019 Mother Earth Day by inaugurating Green Young Stars Club of The Seat of Wisdom School, Lagos.

Okuribido explained that it is imperative to involve the children in the campaign for the protection of the environment to build their interest in it.

The WIRE-A president buttressed that “we need to relate directly with the children and catch them young. Most adults might probably not be interested in environmental issues but we need to build the interests in our children now, so as they grow, they can contribute to the protection of the ecosystem.

She spoke further on the campaign of One Nigerian Child, One Solar Light is meant to promote the use of renewable energy which she noted would help reduce pollution, keep the environment safe and reduce global warming. She urged women, those according to her consume 80% energy, to adopt the use of renewable energy.
