The Nigerian Institute of Journalism Alumni Association (NIJAA) has paid a courtesy visit to the management of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening collaboration towards the growth and development of the institution.
The delegation, led by the newly elected President of NIJAA, Mr. Olumuyiwa Akintunde, formally introduced the association’s new executive committee to the management and Council of the Institute.
Speaking during the visit, Akintunde said the new leadership was ready to work with the NIJ Board and Management to identify areas of mutual interest and contribute to the continued development of the institution.
He noted that alumni have an important role to play in the growth and sustainability of their alma mater, adding that “NIJAA would leverage the experience, expertise, professional networks and goodwill of its members to support the Institute”.
The delegation also presented its vision and priorities while exploring areas of collaboration that could strengthen NIJ’s role in journalism and media education.
In response, the NIJ management welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the association’s initiative and willingness to contribute to the institution’s development.
The management acknowledged the importance of alumni engagement in strengthening institutional development and maintaining meaningful relationships between the Institute and its former students.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their commitment to building a stronger relationship that would benefit the Institute, its students, alumni and the wider media industry.
The visit marks an early step in the renewed engagement between NIJ and its alumni community under the new NIJAA leadership, with both sides looking towards increased collaboration and practical initiatives in the years ahead.
