The Lagos State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has called on Lagos residents, especially Muslim faithful, to be vigilant and stay safe as the world celebrates Eid-el-Kabir.

In a goodwill message to all Muslim faithful in the state on the occasion of the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir, the group congratulated all Muslims on the celebration.

The group in a statement jointly signed by the  Lagos State Commander and South-West Zonal Head, ACG Olushola Jimoh Olawale, and Lagos State Head of Operations, Comrade Agbodemu Ishola Musbau,  also appealed to all Muslims in the state to comply with all COVID-19 safety protocols recommended by the Federal Government and State Government respectively.

The statement reads in part that, “there have been reports of a security breach in some parts of the state in recent times and we want to urge Muslims to be security conscious as they go about the festivity and also report any suspicion they might have.

“We are also using this opportunity to restate our commitment to support the efforts of the government and various security operatives to make Lagos State a safe place to be.

“Safety issues are also beyond attacks and that’s the reason everyone needs to ensure that COVID-19 safety precautions are maintained, especially in the wake of a third wave.”

The group thereafter said, “We wish every Muslim a great celebration.”
