The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has organized a one-day interdenominational prayer and fasting session for journalists across the country.

The prayer and fasting session was organized following the recent deaths of journalists across the country.

In an opening address during the prayer session which held online, Comrade Adeola Ekine, Chairperson, NAWOJ Lagos buttressed that the prayer was occasioned by the recent untimely deaths among Nigeria Journalists particularly in Lagos.

She Said, “recall that Lagos NAWOJ lost Bolanle Onigbanjo of Radio Lagos/Eko FM, Chinyere Ogbonna of FRCN, Aramide Praise Oikelome (Former Head of Religious Desk, Daily Independent), Naomi Uzor of Vanguard and Udom Ukiruka Chinaza of AIT within a space of Six months.

“Therefore, the executives thought it wise that the entire Lagos NAWOJ should seek divine intervention on July 3, 2020,” she added.

The prayer sessions were held at 9am 12pm, 3pm and 6pm respectively and each session was led in both Christian and Islamic Prayers by two prayer coordinators each.
