The Lagos State Civil Society Participation for Development, LACSOP has committed to supporting the demands of the Youths towards attaining good governance in the country.

LACSOP, an umbrella body for civil society groups in Lagos disclosed this during Citizens / Civil Society Ideation to Generate Evidence For Way Forward on #EndSARS.

In a document signed by the Dede Kadiri, Executive Secretary, LACSOP on behalf of all CSO partners, it was stressed that, “LACSOP was not one of the leaders of the #ENDSARS Protest. However, we support the spirit of the movement; end to police brutality and the move towards good governance for ALL Nigerians.

“By bringing forward this brief, we do not intend to usurp the intention of the movement founders but to support the midwifing of the expected outcomes in the aftermath of the protests,” it added.

The group also noted that it would “contribute to dousing the tension in the aftermath of the violence.

“Midwife a communication strategy that is devoid of mistintereptation and meets the central purpose of good governance.

“Monitor and support the dissemination of information/ recommendations that emerge from the Panel of inquiry,” it added.

The group stressed that it will “work with legislative representatives and othere structures of government to produce all the outcomes mentioned above.”

LACSOP thereafter charged the Lagos State government to eschew victimization and trace all victims of police brutality and lekki shootings with the intention of gaining public trust.

“LASG make a commitment to the citizens that is public, open, transparent and can be easily tracked

“Develop massive communication mechanism to communicate with the community, youth, general citizens.”
