Acknowledging the challenges faced by persons with albinism, including discrimination, social exclusion, barriers to education, employment, healthcare, and personal security, Omolola reaffirmed her commitment to championing policies and initiatives that promote equality, dignity, and opportunity.
Omolola shared that she would “strengthen advocacy and protection of the rights of persons with albinism, expand public education and awareness to combat myths, stigma, and discrimination and improve access to healthcare services, including eye care, skin cancer prevention, and mental health support.”
The newly elected president also paid tribute to past leaders of the association, acknowledging their contributions and pledging to build on their achievements.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the AAN Electoral Committee, Aghanti Sunday Smith, commended delegates, candidates, and committee members for ensuring a successful electoral process.
Smith praised members for their active participation and decorum throughout the process and commended all aspirants for conducting issue-based campaigns marked by maturity and respect.
“As the election is now concluded, our focus shifts to collaboration and progress. Let us rally behind the newly elected National Executive Council as they work to build a stronger, more inclusive, and empowered community for all persons with albinism in Nigeria,” he stated.
The convention concluded with a renewed call for unity among members and stakeholders as the association embarks on a new chapter focused on advocacy, empowerment, and inclusion.
