The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), in partnership with the Disability Rights Fund (DRF) and Disability Rights Advocacy Fund, has hosted the 2022 Grantees convening.

The two-day event held in Abuja aims to create opportunities for current grantees to learn and share lessons about their work and priorities toward building a cohesive and inclusive movement that leaves no one behind.

During the session on the way forward for the Organisation of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Nigeria on GDS18/GDS22 anchored by Katiya of DRF, Mr David Anyaele of Centre for Citizens with Disability said capacity building and provision of resources is essential for OPDs to understand the gap in the linkage.

Donors and cooperating partners shared information on disability-related funding opportunities in Nigeria and guided grantees on how they could take advantage of the opportunities.

At the end of the event, Grantees commit to the inclusion of marginalized groups in their activities and advocacy to enhance visibility and build capacity.

Grantees at the event include the Centre for Inclusive Development (CID), Festus Fajemilo Foundation (FFF), Centre for Citizens with Disability (CCD), Disability Rights Advocacy Center (DRAC), The Albino Foundation (TAF), Advocacy For Women With Disabilities Initiative (AWWDI), Lionheart Ability Leaders International Foundation (LALIF), Disability Not A Barrier Initiative (DINABI) amongst others.
