As the world commemorates International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, the Africa Leadership Foundation (ALF) has called on governments, stakeholders, and development partners to intensify efforts in eliminating gender inequality across Africa.
As part of activities to mark the annual event, ALF is spearheading a critical dialogue on reparative justice for women, emphasizing the need to address historical and systemic injustices that hinder progress.
ALF’s Executive Director, Dr. Olumide Ajayi, underscored the significance of IWD in reflecting on both achievements and persistent challenges.
“International Women’s Day serves as a poignant reminder of the strides made towards gender equality, yet it also underscores the lingering historical and systemic injustices that disproportionately impact women and girls in Africa,” Dr. Ajayi noted.
Themed “Promoting Reparative Justice for Women and Girls in Africa”, the virtual dialogue is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, March 26th, at 12:00 PM (WAT) on Zoom.
The dialogue will bring together stakeholders, thought leaders, and advocates to foster meaningful discussions and inspire collective action for a more just and equitable future for African women and girls.
The year 2025 also marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark global framework for advancing women’s rights. ALF emphasized that this milestone reinforces the urgency to accelerate progress and dismantle systemic barriers.
The organization encourages public participation in the virtual dialogue and invites stakeholders to register via Zoom link. The event will also be streamed live on ALF’s social media platforms.
