The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has said that Maiduguri and its environments have been cut off from power because of the damages caused by Insurgency.

The power outage which started on the 17th of January 2020 was caused by damages to TCN equipment by the insurgents.

“The incident affected the 330KV transmission line between Maiduguri and Damaturu.

” Also the Damboa-Maiduguri 134kV transmission line has equally been disconnected from the grid for some time for the same reason” Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs, TCN stated.

He, however, added that the fault has been located and the arrangement has been made to repair the line.

Ndidi appreciated the Nigeria Armed forces for their continued support especially in areas prone to insecurity.
