John Eromosele, Facilitator, Hacks Hackers Lagos, has trained journalists on accessing open data to aid storytelling during the August meetup. Hacks Hackers is an initiative of Code for Africa being executed by code for Nigeria where journalists are trained on Data Journalism, every month.

Eromosele who disclosed that government is the largest producer of data, taught journalists present how to source for data from the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS and Hurumap.

Eromonsele mentioned that the partnership between CodeforNigeria and the NBS would help to increase accessibility of data to the public, adding that journalists would be able to get datasets on diverse topics.

He introduced Flourish, a web page application that can be used for visualization of data.

Hacks Hackers is a free training for journalists; print, broadcast and online which holds every month in Lagos, Benin and Abuja. Interested journalists can register via http://bit.ly/CodeForAfrica
