After winning the inaugural Reporter Slam Africa competition, Melony Ishola, a talented presenter from Lagos, Nigeria, is set to compete in the grand finale of the live journalism competition in Berlin.
Organized by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Media Africa, the Reporter Slam Africa brought together six journalists from Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. On June 6, 2024, in Cape Town, the finalists took the stage, captivating audiences with their powerful narratives and unique insights into the world of journalism.
On January 18, 2025, Melony, Head of Programmes, PUNCH Videos, will join other winners from 2024 in Berlin for the ultimate showdown.
Each journalist will present their research in the most entertaining way possible, using photos, videos, music, and other multimedia elements. The audience will then choose the new Slampion.
The Reporter Slam concept is simple yet innovative: journalists take the stage to share their work, with a focus on storytelling and audience engagement.
With her victory in the African edition, Melony has proven herself to be a talented and engaging storyteller, and she is now poised to take the global stage by storm.
