Comrade Adeola Ekine, Chairperson, Lagos State Chapter of National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ has said that the protection of women and girls from violence is a collective responsibility of all.

Comrade Ekine disclosed this in a press statement issued in commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism on the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Comrade Ekine buttressed that with an understanding that eliminating violence against women and girls is a collective responsibility, there is need for men to join the campaign to end VAWG.

She said, “if every man joins the campaign to end VAWG, there won’t be any one to perpetuate such violence.”

Comrade Ekine also explained that other people who keep quite when women are being violated or abused are indirectly contributing to the menace, adding that, all forms of abuse should be reported with the aim of nipping it in the bud.

She also charged journalists across the state not to relent in their efforts to uncover and report issues of violence against women because by so doing, justice would be served.
