As part of measures to cushion the economic impact of the pandemic on female journalists, the Lagos State Chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists is organizing an empowerment programme for its members.

Speaking about the online training of female journalists on various skills, Chairperson, NAWOJ Lagos, Comrade Adeola Ekine noted that many journalists have been affected by the pandemic and there is need to mitigate the economic impact, hence, the reason for setting up the training.

Ekine buttressed that, “it is very important as women journalists to learn a skill in order to cushion the effect of COVID 19 pandemic. A lot of organisations are downsizing while some media houses are owing staff salaries for months.

“With this skill acquisition training, it will be an alternative source of income for our members and it will go a long way in mitigating the economic impact of the pandemic.”

She urged the NAWOJIANS to leverage on the opportunity that has been created for them.

The two weeks skill acquisition will hold online between July 13th to July 25th, 2020

The various categories of skills to be acquired are; Turban making, Head wrap, Hairpiece, Nose Mask, Gele, Makeup, Fascinator and Beads making.
