JAKIN N.G.O. has put smiles on the faces of 1000 orphans and vulnerable children living around Shomolu, Ilaje, Bariga and Yaba axis of Lagos as it distributed toys, clothing items, and party packs at its 2021 annual children’s day celebration.

The event which took place at the organisation’s office in Yaba, was an opportunity for orphans and vulnerable children, whose parents and care givers could not afford to celebrate with, to have a memorable children day celebration.

The NGO despite growing hardship caused by the novel COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the world in 2020, was able to give orphans and vulnerable children an unforgettable children’s day experience.

Items distributed to the children include new toys from Maryland mall, new water bottles, clothes amongst others.

Speaking at the event, the president of the NGO, Mrs. Olubukola Adebiyi said the children’s day event wouldn’t have been made possible without the help of sponsors and donors who bequeathed, to ensure that the orphans and vulnerable children were celebrated during the day set aside for children.

Speaking on how to improve the lives of the vulnerable children, Mrs. Adebiyi pleaded with the government to provide more teachers for primary schools in the state as some schools were short of teachers.

“A key thing that I see as a challenge is that we don’t have enough teachers especially for our primary schools, at least that I am aware of in Mainland Local Government, majority of the primary schools don’t have teachers.

“We have a particular school in Onike, where the school have excellent structures newly built for them, they have only one approved government teacher from SUBEB who is serving a school of over 100 children currently.”

Mrs. Adebiyi also disclosed that the organisation increased the number of beneficiaries of the Children’s day celebration from the usual 500 to 1000 with the aim of expanding the beneficiaries’ net.

She thereafter thanked donors and philanthropist like Maryland Mall, Honeywell, Empowered Christian Centre in Southern Australia, and Worship for change green worship for their donation towards the children day celebration.

Expressing delight, one of the beneficiaries, Sarah Lucky thanked Mrs. Adebiyi and JAKIN N.G.O. for always putting smile on the faces of less privileged children.

“I want to thank you to mummy JAKIN for giving us all these plenty gift to celebrate children’s day,” She said.

Michael Akaani, another, beneficiary said that he wouldn’t have celebrated the day, if not for JAKIN.

“I might not have celebrated today if not for JAKIN, mummy JAKIN always put smile on our faces,” he said.
