Blessing Oladunjoye Wins Impact Award on Project for Women with Disabilities

Blessing Oladunjoye, Publisher of BONews Service has been announced as a winner for the #BreakTheBias Challenge organized by ‘Her Story Our Story’, in Nigeria, to commemorate International Women’s Day 2022.

The #BreakTheBias challenge was set up to recognize the most impactful work that has helped to break the bias against women with disabilities in Nigeria.

The winners were announced on the official Twitter handle of Her Story Our Story and during a hybrid conference to commemorate the IWD2022.

The winners are Helen Beyioku, Blessing Oladunjoye, Voice of Disability Initiative, and the Network of Women with Disabilities.

The winners would benefit from mentoring sessions which include Organizational capacity strengthening, Advocacy planning and implementation, Social media engagement, and Sponsorship to attend an International Women’s Day Conference and network with potential partners.

In a congratulatory letter to Ms. Oladunjoye signed by Danladi Plang, National Programme Manager of RoLAC, it was stated that “this win is symbolic of the well-deserved recognition of your outstanding contributions to advancing rights and access to justice for women with disabilities in Nigeria, through inclusive journalism.”

Expressing her delight, Ms. Oladunjoye shared that, “this is a call to be more committed and to continually use the media to advance the rights of the members of the disability community.”

Her Story Our Story is a European Union campaign in partnership with the British Council, seeking to end all forms of sexual & gender-based violence.
