Rt. Hon Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev, Senator-elect Benue North West Senatorial District has urged his supporters to respect outgoing Senator, Dr George Akume saying he has huge tasks ahead of him than to be distracted with political division.
Orker made this known in his appreciation message to the members of his constituency for their support which made him emerge winner at the polls on Saturday.
Orker who mentioned that he’s dedicating his victory to God and the people of Zone B gave his word of commitment and assurance that he would not take the opportunity given to him for granted.
“INEC declared me winner of the Benue North West Senatorial District having won majority of the votes in six out of the seven local government areas of Zone B.
“I am totally humbled by this victory and dedicate it first to God and then to the good people of Zone B and indeed Benue State.
“I am aware of the enormous interest this contest has generated across the land and I do not intend to take this new responsibility lightly.
“As we celebrate this resounding verdict of the people, I urge and plead for all to conduct themselves responsibly. I request everyone to extend all respects and courtesies to the outgoing Senator His Excellency Dr. George Akume who has served our state in various capacities for the past 40 years. The task ahead is too enormous and serious to allow political divisions and bickering to constitute a distraction”, Orker added.
The senator elect urged the people of Benue state to support him with their prayers, saying “As I wait to receive the baton for the Journey ahead, I solicit for your prayers and cooperation to help forge a more united front, if for nothing else, for the sake of our people and the progress and development of our society.”
He also used the opportunity to call for the re-election of Governor Samuel Ortom as the governor of Benue state. “I urge you to turn out in your numbers to perform this civic duty by voting massively for all PDP candidates to complete what you started on 23rd of February, 2019.”
He once again appreciated the leadership of the party and all the people of Benue State, “I wish to express my profound appreciation to the Peoples Democratic Party and the Governor who is the leader of the party, Elders, Youth and Women groups, Pressure groups, party men and women, the clergy, students, market men and women and above all the wonderful people of Zone B for the absolute confidence in me.”
