Anambra journalists hold discussion on role of media in credible electoral process

As the 2023 general election approaches, journalists in Anambra State will on Thursday hold a symposium on the role of the media in the country’s electoral process.

The event which will hold at the NUJ Press Centre in Awka, Anambra State will feature the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof Obiora Okonkwo as the lead speaker.

Okonkwo, a Russian trained professor of Political Science will be speaking on the main theme of the one day symposium: The Role of the Media in Guaranteeing the Sanctity of the Electoral Process in Nigeria.

The second lecture would be delivered by the commissioner for Information in Anambra State, Mr Paul Nwosu on: The Imperative of Traditional Media in Marketing State Policies: Anambra State as a Case Study.

Chairman of the Symposium Organising Committee, Mr David-Chyddy Eleke who addressed journalists in Awka on Tuesday said the symposium which is an annual event of all correspondents in the state would help in shaping the 2023 election, especially in reminding media practitioners of their contribution towards the success of the coming election.

He said: “We have made extensive arrangement for a hitch-free event, everything has been put in place, and we are hopeful of an impactful lecture.
