The Centre for Children’s Health Education, Orientation and Protection, CEE-HOPE Nigeria has marked its eight anniversary as it hosts Board members, Staff, Volunteers and Community members.
While giving her welcome remark at the event, Betty Abah, the Executive Director of CEE-HOPE Nigeria who recounted the journey of the organization over the years, appreciated the support of all the board members, staff, volunteers, community members and friends of the organization.
Abah, who noted that the eight-year journey has not been a smooth ride all through, explained how the organization has been focused towards addressing the key challenges experienced by women and children in urban-poor communities.
She thereafter mentioned that “CEE-HOPE will continue to give educational empowerment to children and economic empowerment to women in impoverished communities”, adding that, “the main issue that bothers those in informal communities is survival and it is important that we address this from a sustainable approach.”
Abah shared some of the projects that the organization has embarked on towards ensuring that children in informal communities have access to education as well as the setting up of shelter for survivors of gender based violence.
While commending CEE-HOPE Nigeria for the giant strides that have been made so far, Mr Lekan Otufodunrin, veteran journalist and one of the board members of CEE-HOPE Nigeria, explained that the impacts that CEE-HOPE Nigeria has made over the years are noteworthy and have transformed several lives.
He also appreciated those who have been supporting the organization over time, noting that, “it is a different thing to have a vision and it is another thing to have people to support the vision and run with it.”
He encouraged Betty Abah to stay committed to her vision and also tasked participants to be focused on whatever they are doing. “It is important that you be the best in whatever you’re known for and do not despise the days of little beginning,” Mr Otufodunrin added.
Mr Sam Olukoya, veteran journalist and Board member, CEE-HOPE Nigeria, also commended the organization for eight years of tremendous impacts in numerous communities.
He said that, while the organization is celebrating 8 years, the successes that have been recorded seem like the organization has been in existence for over3 decades. He tasked Betty Abah to keep the flag flying and never to relent in her efforts to help the poor.
Mr and Mrs Falobi, Mr Ibrahim Issah, Mr Dayo Emmanuel, Mrs Bimbo Oshobe, Ms Evelyn Osagie among other friends and well-wishers shared commendations about Betty Abah and the impacts that CEE-HOPE Nigeria have made in numerous communities in Lagos and other states in Nigeria.
The event also witnessed the screening of the latest documentary produced by CEE-HOPE Nigeria which advocated for an end to bullying in schools.
