The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has received a total of 95 Assisted Voluntary Nigerians who were stranded in Libya back to Nigeria.
The Returnees who were brought with the assistance of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) arrived at Muritala Muhammed International Airport Ikeja at about 2018 hours on Tuesday, 16th November 2021.
After Profiling, the data indicates that 60 male adults among whom are 2 with medical cases, 29 adult females, and 3 male and 1 female teenager with 1 infant of male and female respectively were brought back.
On arrival, the Director-General of NEMA implored the Returnees to turn a new leaf by looking inward within the country that has been blessed with an abundance of resources.
He assured the Returnees that Federal Government and IOM along with other international partners will not disappoint them as well as Nigerians by providing enabling environment for all to achieve their potentials.
He further reminded them that the pseudo greener pastures that many thoughts abound in foreign are not true but with your experiences now. They are in a better position to enlighten anyone still contemplating traveling out of the country.
The Director-General who was represented by the Acting Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Lagos Territorial Office, Ibrahim Farinloye praised the efforts and assistance of IOM in the country and assured the Organisation of the continuous cooperation and partnership.
