Nigerian conscious musician and filmmaker Ambassador Willie Workman Oga has been nominated at this year’s Directors Guild of Nigeria Awards for his short film “Through Her Lense.”
The nomination recognizes his commitment to using arts and storytelling to drive social change globally.
“Through Her Lense” tells the story of Ehi Ekonu, a teenage environmental photo activist whose passion for the planet pushes her advocacy beyond all expectations.
The film highlights youth leadership, environmental education, climate action, and the power of visual storytelling to spark conversations around environmental protection.
The story is inspired by Anu The Photo Girl, an award-winning Nigerian teenage environmental photographer known for using her camera to document climate issues and advocate for a cleaner, greener Nigeria.
Reacting to the nomination, Oga said the film speaks to young people who doubt their capacity to create change.
“This film is for every young person who believes they are too small to make a difference. Ehi’s story is real, it’s urgent, and it’s Nigerian. To be recognized by the Directors Guild of Nigeria for telling stories that matter means a lot. We must use our lenses — cameras, music, and voices — to heal our world,” he said.
The Directors Guild of Nigeria Awards celebrates excellence in directing and filmmaking across Nollywood and independent cinema, with the 2026 edition spotlighting films that promote cultural values, social impact, and creative innovation.
The nomination adds to Willie Workman’s growing awards portfolio as both a musician and filmmaker who centres purpose-driven narratives.
Known for music and films that speak to justice, peace, community, and the environment, he continues to position Nigerian stories on global platforms.
Oga is a Nigerian conscious musician, filmmaker, and social impact advocate who tells stories that educate, inspire, and drive action on issues affecting people and the planet through music and film.
“Through Her Lense” explores how one young voice with a camera can challenge systems and inspire a movement.
