Political analysts and Experts on electoral matters have said Donald Trump’s actions have revealed that there are no perfect institutions in the world.
This was revealed in separate interviews with BONews Service, following the violence that erupted at Capitol Hill, Washington DC. The violence halted the tallying of electoral college votes to affirm Joe Biden’s victory.
Martins Obono, lawyer and Executive Director, TAP Initiative opined that “America has strong institutions but it has been proven by these actions that strong institutions are run by men.
“Donald Trump has demystified America by his utterances and actions,” he added.
On his part, Political Analyst, Seun Akinyemi, said, “there are no perfect system in the world. The happenings in the US only validate the fact that we need strong institutions and not strong men.
“When you have strong institutions, if men in power are acting unruly, the institutions will force them back to retrace their steps and that’s the only reason Trump will announce that he is ready for an orderly transition on January 20th.”
He added that, “No perfect democracy anywhere in the world, US is going through turbulent times and we need to support them, the same way they have supported us in the past.”
Dr. Adebukola Adebayo, disability-inclusive expert said, “what we are witnessing in the US and its elections today will surely embolden titanic leaders in Africa and elsewhere to reject outcomes of credible elections.
“America is known to always mentor and support new and fragile democracies. Now, if US democracy fails, where will America turn for support?” he asked.
