A potentially disastrous situation is unfolding in Akure, Ondo State, as a residential well on Araromi Street has been contaminated with petrol from a nearby fuel station.

This was revealed by journalist, Oseni Rufai on X.

Rufai described the incident as a ticking time bomb as he feared that a fire outbreak around the well could have catastrophic consequences.

“This is No 47 Araromi street Akure, there a petrol station near this house and the well that supply water is now filled with petrol from the petrol station.

“The government should do something immediately as this can cause chaos. Just imagine if a fire is started around the well. We will like the Ondo state government and relevant agencies to do something immediately. This is a ticking time bomb,” Rufai wrote.

The contamination of the well water poses a significant risk to the health and safety of residents in the area.

Residents are urging the state government and relevant agencies to take swift action to mitigate the situation.
