The Osun State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has promised to assent to the disability bill in the state before leaving office on November 27, 2022.
Oyetola made the promise while receiving peaceful protesters, under the auspices of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, JONAPWD, Osun State chapter in collaboration with Festus Fajemilo Foundation (FFF), Society for Life Changers and Good Parental Care (So-Life) and Community Advancement Initiative for Self-Reliance (CAI4SR) at the Governor’s Office in Osogbo.
The peaceful protest according to the groups is aimed to draw the attention of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to the age-long disability bill which has not been passed into law in Osun state.
The Governor who was represented by the Head of Service of the State, Dr. Festus Olowogboyega said the concerns of the protesters would be presented to the Governor and the disability bill will be signed and passed before the end of the outgoing Governor’s administration on November 27, 2022.
He also shared some interventions implemented by the Gboyega Oyetola-led administration which Persons with disabilities (PWDs) have benefited from. He noted that such interventions indicated that the Governor is concerned about members of the disability community.
