The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Lagos State Chapter has indicated interest to commiserate the efforts of the current administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu towards achieving the THEMES Agenda with the aim of building a sustainable Lagos.
This was made known by Lookman Oshodi, Vice-Chairman, NITP and also a Chairmanship Candidate in the forthcoming elections of the Lagos State Chapter of the institute.
Oshodi disclosed this in an exclusive interview with BONews Service while reeling out his proposed achievements if elected as the chairman of the institute.
Oshodi noted that himself and his team would “work closely with the Government and residents to achieve the objectives of THEMES for the sustainability of Lagos and also refine the operations of the Change the City Project to include support for community planning and project implementation.”
As part of his plans for the institute, he noted that he would “Increase the scope of training and capacity development opportunities (both local and international) available to NITP, LSC members in the civil service, private sector, academic and other arms of the Institute.”
To achieve the aforementioned, Oshodi said he would “work closely with colleagues in the academics to develop a three-year Capacity Development Plan for the Institute and set the platform for the implementation.”
The incumbent vice chairman of the institute also noted that he is interested in the scaling Up the Future of NITP, LSC, stressing that, “I will create the NITP LSC Benefits Fund; Ensure welfare system for the young and senior members of NITP, LSC; Create employment opportunities for the young members of NITP, LSC; and also strengthen the secretariat system of NITP, LSC.”
Most importantly, he said he is ready and aimed at consolidating the achievements of the outgoing Executive Committee and improve on other identified areas of the profession.
The election of the institute is scheduled to hold on Monday, September 14th with a total of three candidates contesting for the chairmanship position.
