Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) says it has equipped some entrepreneurs with knowledge and skills necessary for international trade.

Nancy Okpa and Olamide Olatunde, both Senior Trade Officers of NEPC, disclosed this during the opening of the maiden edition of the Lagos Mainland Trade Fair in Ikeja.

The duo said that NEPC had taken steps toward enhancing the export capabilities of the entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the occasion, a Media Personality and Queen of Apomu Kingdom in Osun, Olori Janet Mba-Afolabi, commended NEPC for its efforts at reducing the country’s economic vulnerability to oil price fluctuation by promoting non-oil exports.

Mba-Afolabi said that through such efforts, there would be an increase in foreign exchange earnings of the country.

The entrepreneur, who described the programme as “a great first attempt”, said it exceeded her expectations.

“It was incredible to see entrepreneurs coming together to celebrate enterprise and innovations.

“The energy was amazing. We look forward to building on this momentum,” the entrepreneur said.

NAN reports that the fair featured the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) which sensitised entrepreneurs on the need to register their products.

NAN also reports that the entrepreneurs learnt the step-by-step export procedures, while also gaining insight into the importance of compliance with international standards and compliance.

In her address Monalisa Aze, whose company, Mona Matthews, curated the event, expressed appreciation for the support to develop the export capabilities of entrepreneurs and provide them access to international markets.

“Vendors will be more confident and equipped to navigate the exportation process.

“Through exportation, entrepreneurs can expand their businesses and access the global market,” she stated.

Aze expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm displayed by the vendors who showed their products and services with passion.

“The event has shown that with determination and hard work, we can create a lasting impact and provide opportunities for growth and expansion of businesses and services,” she said.

The event drew a large crowd of entrepreneurs and vendors, thus sparkling entrepreneurial growth.

Some of them, who spoke with NAN, expressed happiness for being part of the event.

One of the entrepreneurs, Enobong Ezekiel, Chief Executive Officer/Founder, Coreal8, said he was able to connect with many customers and partners.

“The organisers did an incredible job of creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere that allowed us to showcase our services,” he remarked.

The event drew a crowd. Prominent among them is Tope Alabi a popular gospel musician.

No fewer than 100 entrepreneurs and vendors showcased their goods and services at the fair, which was attended by eminent personalities, including a prominent gospel singer, Lady Evangelist Tope Alabi.
