The presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance ( MAJA), Princess Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya- Davies has condemned the current attacks and killings going on in Kaduna state.
In a statement by the Special Assistant, PMA Campaign Organization, Isioma C. Nkenchor, Prof Funmilayo Adesanya decried the attack and noted it called for a very deep reflection whether in the name of religious, tribal, trade or communal differences, from all Northerners.
She said, “I am seriously lost for words. We simply don’t deserve this savagery. We have become beasts, heartless, barbaric and cruel. People who profess religion but are faithless.” As also “It was said that armed Muslim thugs have been operating freely slaughtering innocent people and the authorities appeared to have lost control.”
The female flag bearer of the MAJA party said, “as a woman and a mother, this situation is rather unbearable. As we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed, that their souls rest in peace and healing for those injured.”
Adesanya-Davies urged all concerned residents of Kaduna state to continue to live in peace as law abiding citizens and remember that we all care as injury to one, is definitely injury to all.”
The recent crisis in the state resulted in the death of 22 people while 44 others sustained injuries.
The state governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai had stated that the state will enforce various provisions of the Riots Damage Law of 1958, the Collective Punishment Law of 1915 and the Peace Preservation Law of 1917 to impose cost on communities.
“The Kaduna State Government intends to encourage this by vigorously enforcing the various provisions of the Riots Damage Law of 1958, the Collective Punishment Law of 1915 and the Peace Preservation Law of 1917.
“These laws impose costs on communities that permit violence in their midst, obliging community members to be charged and levied monies for the cost of repairing damage done during episodes of violence.”
