The Lagos State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has charged politicians, political supporters and Lagosians to maintain peace and order, as Local Government elections hold in the state tomorrow.
The group in a statement jointly signed by the State commander/Southwest commander ACG Olushola Jimoh Olawale and Comrade Agbodemu Ishola Musbau, Lagos State Head of Operations, appealed to all stakeholders involved in the election to effectively execute all their tasks and ensure peaceful conducts throughout the election cycle.
The statement reads in part that, “elections are opportunities for every qualified citizen to elect their preferred candidates to positions. It is not a time to be involved in any violent or criminal activity.
“We expect that all those who would be participating in the process will do so without involving in any form of activity that would distort the process.”
The group thereafter stressed that, “LASIEC as the electoral umpire should be unbiased and ensure the process runs smoothly.
“We also use this opportunity to charge Lagosians to go out en masse to vote as local government election is vital to grassroot development.
“The Lagos VGN command will play our role to ensure that the process is orderly without breach of security.”
