The Lagos State Chapter of the Action Democratic Party has charged the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu to prove to all Lagosians that he is a man of his own and not a puppet of any godfather as widely speculated.
In a press statement signed by the party’s chairman, Barr Nasir Adewale Bolaji, the party congratulated Sanwoolu and also urged him to continue with the legacy projects of former governor Akinwumi Ambode.
The Lagos ADP task the new governor to implement the new minimum wage, “the implementation of the newly signed minimum wage of N30,000 should be his priority, Lagos State is capable and workers must be adequately taken care of, if maximum productivity is expected from them.
“Both human and infrastructural developments should be key areas the governor must focus on if indeed he would want Lagosians to take him serious”, Adewale added.
The party wants the governor to revisit the Lagos Water Project, fix roads in the interlands, attend to security crisis which include influx of herdsmen and kidnapping as well as address multiple taxation.
The ADP Chairman explained that, “we want the governor to revisit Lagos Water project, that basic amenities such as potable water should not be a big deal for Lagosians to enjoy, while also charging him to look at how Local Government autonomy can be implemented since they are closer to the people who need to enjoy the dividends of democracy. Roads in the interior parts of various communities must be adequately given attention because inner Lagos is an eyesore.
“ADP is tasking Mr Babajide Sanwoolu to critical look at the looming crisis which is silently brewing, the issue of influx of Fulani Herdsmen, reportedly kidnapping people for ransom, which is creating panic amongst the residents of the State, security of lives and properties must be another topmost priority attention must be given, to give investors confidence of a conducive business environment in the State.”
Speaking on security issues that need to be urgently addressed, Adewale said, “ADP remembers Kolade Johnson who was extrajudicially murdered by the police, the party tasks Sanwoolu to partner with the police in terms of training on Human Rights and awareness on the value of human lives, to mitigate against these barbaric and senseless killings of innocent residents of Lagos.”
The party noted that it would make itself a formidable opposition in the state and would monitor the activities of the governor to ensure that he serves lagosians effectively.
