The Lagos State Civil Society Participation for Development (LACSOP) has been commended by the European Union Agents for Citizens-Driven Transformation (EU-ACT) Programme of the British Council for its commitment, dedication and collaboration which led to the success of the 5-year project in Lagos.
The commendation was made at the close-out event of the EU-ACT Programme which held in Lagos.
Dede Kadiri, the Executive Secretary of LACSOP also received a team player award “in recognition of her steadfast dedication to teamwork and her team’s success through collaborative efforts and cooperation.”
While delivering her goodwill message earlier, Dede Kadiri congratulated the EU-ACT team and the CSO partners that have benefitted from the programme in the past years.
Kadiri said “it’s been a harrowing journey, EU-Act came in at a time that we were struggling with funding, structure and working in silos. Overtime EU-ACT supported us in working through innovations and setting up structures.
“We are happy that this is a full partnership to our development which has led to our growth.
“We celebrate the efforts, the results, and the impacts,” she added.
Partner organizations including International Press Centre, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, LEAP Africa, Centre for Media and Society (CEMESO), Women Liberation and Transformation Group (WLIT), and Women Rights and Health Project (WRAHP) were also awarded for their commitment to impact through their work.
Mr. Damilare Babalola, ACT National Programme Manager (NPM), appreciated all the CSO partners, and according to him, the success of the Programme was as a result of the cooperation from the partners.
He appealed for continuous collaboration as the Programme phases out.
The 5-year EU-ACT programme was implemented in 10 states across Nigeria.
