The Imo State Gubernatorial candidate of the Progressive People Alliance, Nwankwo Nnaemeka Lawrence has promised to ensure the revival of existing government companies in the state such as the moribund Ada-Palm, Standard Shoe Company and Avutu Modern Poultry.
This was contained in one of the campaign messages reeled out to residents of Imo state, to ensure he alongside his deputy, Onyenze Swenny Chisom are duly elected during the forthcoming governorship elections.
Nnaemeka stressed that the revival of these existing investments would bring much needed employment, explaining that, “Employment will come through newly skilled labour from our NEET apprentice training programme and internally generated revenue will be reinvested to expand productions and establish new state industries.”
The PPA governorship candidate stressed that the revitalization of these industries in Imo state are important because it would ensure “that Nigeria is not reliant on imports from other countries where prices regularly increase and cost the Nigerian consumer heavily. These industries will bring price security in their sectors to not only Imo State but Nigeria as a whole.”
He added that, “all state owned industries will be fully transparent publishing accounts allowing further investment into them from the private sector.”
Onyenze Swenny Chisom who is Nnaemeka’s running mate is the Executive Director of International Compassion Center for Women and Children Empowerment (ICCOWMET), which she founded in 2013 who has a background in the Health Sector.
The PPA campaign’s team explained that “Swenny is passionate about Health and Education and will be working closely alongside Nnaemeka Lawrence Nwankwo in introducing his policies to create a #NewERA2019 for Imo State.
“With Swenny as the deputy governor in Imo State, the health sector would improve positively.”
