The Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) has called on the Benue State government to adopt the Disability Bill in the state to champion the cause of Persons With Disabilities ( PWDs).
The Executive Director of IFA, Grace Jerry, made this remark during the one-day workshop on the domestication of the Disability Bill held in Makurdi, Benue State.
The Executive Director, who was represented by the Director of Programmes IFA, Joshua Ardo, called for collective action and determination towards achieving the aim.
She noted that through collective advocacy efforts, the disability commission in Abia State has been established and has inspired similar initiatives in other states like Adamawa, Gombe, and Taraba.
“Benue State, with its unique strengths and characteristics, has the opportunity to become a trailblazer in the advancement of disability rights.” She said.
On his part, the Programme Manager of IFA, Stephen Idoko, encouraged participants to draw inspiration from the achievements recorded by IFA and recognize the potential impact their collective efforts can have on shaping inclusive policies.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Chairman Joint National Association of Persons With Disability (JONAPWD), Benue chapter, Ben Anshe, solicited partnership and cooperation for the success of the initiative.
