Caroline Initiative, a charitable organization dedicated to empowering children, has held ‘Pad a Girl Outreach’ at Dynamos College, Lagos to distribute sanitary pads and educational materials to school girls.
The Pad a Girl Outreach event is a significant initiative addressing the issue of menstrual hygiene management, a persistent challenge that hinders many girls’ education in Nigeria. By providing sanitary pads, the organization seeks to reduce absenteeism and promote confidence and dignity for young women, enabling them to attend school without worry or shame.
While addressing the school girls during the outreach, Quadri Adejumo, the Founder and Director of Caroline Initiative, emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene management in girls’ education, saying “education is a game driver, and no girl deserves to miss schooling due to lack of proper menstrual hygiene products.”
Adejumo further stated that the “pad a Girl Outreach” is not just about providing menstrual supplies; it’s about creating a safe and supportive environment where girls can flourish both academically and personally.
Quadri, who is also a journalist, shared that Caroline Initiative is committed to implementing impactful projects, adding that, “we’ve enacted projects to improve the lives of children, and we’re committed to do more. Recently, we had a school outreach for primary school kids in Ibadan. And in months to come, we’ll do many. Thanks to the ones supporting us.”
The outreach provided sanitary pads, ensuring that each girl had a sufficient supply to manage their menstrual hygiene for a specific time. Also, educational materials, including notebooks and pens, were distributed to support their academic development.
In addition to the resource distribution, interactive sessions were conducted at the event, where experts and volunteers educated the girls on menstrual health and hygiene, addressing their concerns and helping them understand how to manage their menstrual health effectively.
