In commemoration of the 2024 International Women’s Day, PristineSACC Education and Technology Initiative has held an empowerment workshop for women professionals in Kwara State tagged ‘Maximizing Career Opportunities while Managing Family Duties’.

While delivering her welcome remarks at the event, Mrs Aishat Umar, the Executive Director of PristineSACC, shared that while mother and career women’s roles are demanding and occasionally unsettling, striking the best possible balance between them is crucial. She helped the attendees realize that one shouldn’t have an impact on another.

Mrs Umar explained that the workshop was organized to provide women with the coping mechanisms they need to reach their full potential and successfully carry out motherhood’s obligations.

The guest speaker, Professor M.O Esere, Lecturer at the University of Ilorin, took the participants through the concept of clarification, balancing Career and Home, and steps to achieving work-family balance.

In her presentation, Prof Esere said to balance career and family, women need to have mentors, set priorities and boundaries, delegate where necessary, and to grow a strong support system.

Prof Esere also admonished the women to practice self-care, unplug from social media, and prioritise their health and wellbeing.

She also emphasised the importance of fostering a positive environment and facilitating homes where spouses and children can develop.

The Programme Director, Mr. Sodiq Ajala, thanked the participants for their stimulating conversation and appreciated Professor M.O. Esere immensely for her valuable time.

To achieve women’s participation in the technology sector, he urged the participants to be positive, persistent, and to pursue knowledge through technology.
