The Omo Iya Kunmi Foundation (OIKF) is set to kick off the second edition of its highly anticipated Kids Summer Holiday Camp, which will run from September 1st to September 7th, with the theme focused on providing children with impactful learning and development opportunities.
The camp will feature a diverse range of activities aimed at building essential life skills in children. From skills acquisition and capacity building sessions to leadership mentorship and ICT training, the camp aims to equip children with practical knowledge for their future. Additionally, fun-filled sports, indoor games, and adventurous excursions will ensure that the participants have an unforgettable experience.
The convener of the foundation, Alhaji Kunmi Siyanbola, popularly known as “Omo Iya Kunmi”, expressed his enthusiasm for the second edition of the camp. He shared that the primary goal of the Omo Iya Kunmi Foundation is to provide a platform that fosters leadership, social, and vocational skills among young people, empowering them to become productive members of society.
“We introduced this camp as part of our efforts toward human capital development,” Siyanbola said. “The first edition in 2024 was a success, and the overwhelming positive feedback from parents and participants inspired us to organize this second edition. Parents have been calling even before the date was set, and we’ve heard numerous stories about their children’s improved behavior at home and school.”
One of the standout features of this year’s camp is the lineup of experienced facilitators, including professional counselors, entrepreneurs, and vocational trainers. According to Omo Iya Kunmi, “These facilitators come from diverse backgrounds and are committed to ensuring that every child leaves the camp more confident, empowered, and equipped with practical skills. We even have a games master who will teach chess, Scrabble, and other games to enhance the children’s cognitive abilities.”
Siyanbola also highlighted the camp’s affordable participation fee of ₦10,000 per child, acknowledging that funding challenges have always been a hurdle. “Considering the economic situation, we’ve subsidized the participation fee to make it accessible to more parents, and we are grateful for the support of well-meaning individuals who have helped us make this camp possible.”
This year’s camp promises to offer more hands-on learning experiences, with facilitators ensuring that children are fully engaged. “We believe that children learn best when they are actively involved,” Siyanbola noted. “Our goal is for every child to leave the camp with a new skill, a stronger sense of leadership, and memories that will last a lifetime.”
Parents and guardians are encouraged to enroll their children early, as the camp is expected to draw a high turnout based on the success of last year’s edition.
The OIKF Kids Summer Holiday Camp aims to shape young minds, build character, and develop future leaders who will contribute to society’s growth.
