Residents of Edo State have lauded the peaceful conduct of the just concluded gubernatorial elections across various polling units in the state.
The voters commended INEC officials, security officers, party agents and other voters for display of orderliness and good conduct during the election process.
An electorate who voted at Unit 2 Ward 7, Egor Local government said that the election has been quite peaceful within the ward.
He also noted that there was high turnout of voters in the gubernatorial election.
He said the high turnout of voters is a prove that rigging of the elections would be reduced to minimal.
“The election has been quite peaceful and with the reports that I’ve heard from different areas in the state, it shows that the election has been going on smoothly.
“People have also come out en-masse to ensure they cast their votes and as you can see, many people are still waiting to witness the counting of the votes, this means rigging would be most likely impossibly in this election.”
He also noted that he is certain that the election would be credible.
Another voter, Mr Iyamu who voted at Amegor Primary school in Uwelu community said he is amazed about how the election has turned out to be quite peaceful with no form of violence as many people had anticipated.
“This is unbelievable, I didn’t know the election would be so peaceful like this. Even if anything happened as at now, though we don’t pray to have any issue, but it would be recorded that there has been no crisis so far, he added.
Voters who have concluded the voting exercise are seen waiting to witness the counting of the votes.
