In celebration of the festive season, Access to Learning and School (ATLAS) Initiative, a non-profit organisation, is set to host ‘Christmas with a Smile’ in Iyafin Community, Badagry, Lagos, on December 26, 2021.

Modupe Asama, Social Inclusion and Gender Lead, ATLAS initiative, in a press statement mentioned that ‘Christmas with a Smile’ is an annual charitable event that seeks to address extreme poverty in underserved communities through social action.

Asama said that, “this year’s edition will focus on assisting identified disadvantaged families during the festive period. Our goal is to collaboratively take giant strides towards ending extreme poverty and hunger in Iyafin community of Badagry, Lagos.”

She buttressed further that, “the project mobilises the support of social actors, companies, philanthropic individuals and volunteers to address social challenges such as period poverty, food poverty, child poverty and health disparities.

“Since its inception in 2018, Christmas with a Smile has reached out to over 4,000 beneficiaries across three different marginalised communities in Lagos State — Monkey Village in Ikeja; Ilaje Community in Bariga; and Agala Community in Takwabay.”

ATLAS Initiative provides access to learning platforms for personal and professional development opportunities as a crucial means to fight poverty and unemployment.
