Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, ACSPN holds 6th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting.
The conference with the theme, National Interest, Freedom of Expression and Governance in Africa is scheduled to hold in Abeokuta between September 4th and 5th.
According to a statement signed by Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie, ACSPN General Secretary, the conference will feature a panel discussion on ‘Journalism, Media Sustainability and the Consolidation of Democracy 160 Years After Iwe-Irohin, the First Newspaper in Nigeria was Established in Abeokuta in 1859.’
Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy and former editor of the Nation Newspaper will lead the conversation as the keynote speaker.
The conference will feature the launch of a book titled ‘Fake News and Hate Speech: Narratives of Political Instability’ and a collaboration between UNESCO and ACSPN titled ‘Media and Information Literacy’ non-curricula materials will be unveiled.
The conference would also feature paper presentations on issues of National Interest, New Media, Development Communication Theory, Gender related issues, Journalism among others.
Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu of Lagos State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo state will grace the occasion as special guests of honor.
