George Akume, former Governor of Benue State and erstwhile Senator representing Benue North West Senatorial District has challenged the victory of Senator Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev who is the incumbent Senator Representing Benue Zone B.
Akume who was defeated by former House of Representatives member, Barr Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev for the Benue North West Senatorial District in the 2019 general elections took his opponent to the election petition tribunal.
Senator Orker Jev opened his defense today with five witnesses who were cross examined by the legal team of the former governor and Senator led by his lead counsel Ishaq Dikko (SAN).
Among Senator Jev’s witnesses, Respondent Witness 3’s entire evidence was upheld as he substantiated all his evidence under cross examination.
Tribunal chairman Justice R.O. Odugu adjourned the case to Friday August 16, 2019 when the respondent is expected to close his defense.
Senator Orker Jev of the PDP had defeated Senator George Akume of the APC to clinch the Benue North West Senatorial seat by forty two thousand votes, winning in six out of the seven local government areas that make up the Constituency
