The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has tasked the Federal government with the need to apply a holistic approach in eradicating the rising insecurity across the country.

The association also noted that it is imperative that the government eschew selective measures in tackling the menace of insecurity in the country.

The insecurity concerns were raised in the communiqué, adopted at the end of the July edition of the Association’s congress, signed by Lilian Ario, Secretary, NAWOJ Lagos State Chapter.

Members present at the congress drew attention to “insecurity that has plagued the country, the incessant kidnappings, robbery and killings of innocent citizens, the alarming rate of drug abuse by the younger generation, rising cost of living, and the need for the government to properly equip the Armed Forces.”

The association thereafter urged the Federal and Lagos State Government to, “beef up security at the Lagos / Ibadan expressway, as the majority of the citizens working in Lagos State live within that axis, as well as other areas in Lagos.”

The group also noted that the Federal government should make adequate provisions of ammunitions and equipment available to security operatives in order to enable them to tackle the issues of insecurity well.
