After 16 months of detecting the first case of Coronavirus in China, a recent investigation has found four new types of coronavirus in bats in China.
The investigation, carried out by a British virologist, Edward Holmes called the findings “coronavirus soup.”
Edward and his Chinese colleagues have found four other types of coronavirus related to SARS-CoV-2 and three other related to the severe acute respiratory syndrome virus in bats in Southwest China.
It was found in 400 samples of bats taken in a tiny area of China’s Yunnan province, 1,800 kilometres from Wuhan.
The variants detected by Edward were said to have great genetic similarity to SARSCoV2.
The British virologist, Edward Holmes, is one of those responsible for the fact that one year after declaring the world a pandemic, we can already be vaccinating relentlessly towards the old normality.
