The United States Assistant Secretary, Bureau of African Affairs, Nagy has said he would do everything he can to encourage American businesses to invest across African Countries.
Ambassador Nagy made this known during a telephonic press briefing with journalists across Africa which held across various embassies in the continent.
Nagy, however, stressed that African countries should create a proper and enabling environment to America’s investment which is key to attracting and sustaining foreign direct investment.
He said, “Africa should put in place an environment that is transparent and rightly placed to attract investments that are done transparently.”
Nagy who noted that foreign direct investment is key to the development of the region urged the countries to put in place facilities that would ensure foreign investment survives.
He expressed, “The way to make Africa prosperous is to put in place a structure that would attract investment.
“They should put in place environment that will interest foreign investment in the continent.”
Speaking about elections in Africa, Ambassador Nagy said: “the US government never had a candidate in any election, the US government is only interested in a government that supports and work in the interests of its citizens.”
Nagy also disclosed that he would be visiting West African Countries in a couple of weeks for the first time since he resumes duties as the Assistant Secretary of African Affairs in July 2018.
