ConstitutionLab, a Civic tech organization focused on providing Nigerians with a working knowledge of the Constitution and it’s contemporary relevance to increase civic participation in governance, has flagged off her community engagement events.
The community engagement program is aimed at enriching people at the grassroots with the provisions of the constitution thereby raising informed citizens.
The first community was at Ifesawapo CDA, Akera, Ogun State and the team was led by Brownson Etimbuk, Team lead, ConstitutionLab.
Brownson enlightened community members on the provisions of the Constitution with regards to their rights and duties as citizens, the responsibility of government and the functions of the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary arms of the government.
They were also enlightened on the constitutional provisions and functions of LGAs and the Recall process.
The members of the community were excited about the event and the information they got. They believed that the information garnered would help them to become more active and engage their elected officials on issues of development.
